Job Description



Summary:

The Default Litigation Specialist provides legal support in the Default Litigation Department for customer complaints, client issues, and attorney assistance for contested foreclosures and adversarial bankruptcy proceedings. Reports to: Assistant Manager and the Assistant VP of Default Litigation & Attorney Oversight INTERNAL CONTACTS: Legal Department; Default Litigation Department; other Company managers and personnel as necessary to complete projects assigned EXTERNAL CONTACTS: Attorneys, Vendors, Governing Agencies, Investors and Clients



Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Monitor foreclosure and bankruptcy proceedings handled by the Disposition Department; report to General Counsel on issues presenting litigation exposure for Dovenmuehle.
  • Assemble and review information needed to prepare answers and responses to discovery in contested foreclosures and adversarial bankruptcies.
  • Serve as conduit between client and counsel with respect to contested foreclosures and adversarial bankruptcies in order to protect Dovenmuehle's interests.
  • Attend depositions, trials and mediations when Dovenmuehle is required to provide testimony related to debt or servicing functions.
  • Review and respond to correspondence received from attorneys or borrowers related to loans in active foreclosure or bankruptcy.
  • Perform such other responsibilities and duties assigned by Assistant Manager and Manager of the Default Litigation Department.

Job Requirements



Job requirements:

  • 3 - 10 years in law office or corporate legal department or mortgage servicing company with concentration in foreclosures, bankruptcy and real estate practice.
  • College Degree and/or Paralegal certification preferred.
  • Experience in a legal environment dealing with foreclosure and bankruptcy pleadings. Experience with loan systems, Fidelty systems, and Microsoft Office
  • Superior interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills; proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet programs; excellent written and oral communication skills; willingness to work overtime as needs dictate
