Job Description



Summary:

Bankruptcy Associate candidates must have a mortgage servicing /mortgage banking background. Responsibilities include ensuring department compliance with applicable federal and state consumer lending, mortgage banking, related servicing laws and regulatory matters. Evaluate and provide analysis and counsel on Chapter 7, 11 and 13's. Responsible for the completion and management of assigned projects. CONTACTS/ INTERNAL: Mortgage Disposition Department; Loss Mitigation Department; Escrow Department; and other Company managers and personnel as necessary to complete projects assigned. CONTACTS/EXTERNAL: Attorneys, Vendors, Governing Agencies, Investors and Clients



Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • •Ability to work with default vendors in various aspects of bankruptcy processes as determined by management including.
  • •Supports a comprehensive program for complexities involved in primarily Chapter 7, 11 and 13 bankruptcies.
  • •Both litigation & transaction experience recommended. Strong communication (verbal and written) and organizational skills a must.
  • •Proven risk management skills to ensure companywide compliance with consumer lending, mortgage banking, related servicing laws and regulatory matters at the federal and state level.
  • •Recommends, develops, and implements changes to existing and proposed procedures, policies, and programs.
  • •Keeps abreast of regulatory and legal developments governing bankruptcy and mortgage banking, specifically as they relate to mortgage servicing regulations.
  • •Provides advice, guidance and insight to Senior Management and staff personnel on emerging compliance issues and consults and guides the company in establishment of controls to mitigate risk, as needed.
  • •Identifies and communicates need for bankruptcy education programs and assists in developing training to all staff members.
  • •Conducts research on projects as required by the management.
  • •Performs such other responsibilities and duties as assigned by management.

Job Requirements



Job requirements:

  • •Paralegal certification or Juris Doctor Degree- licensed to practice in the State of Illinois is preferred.
  • •3+ years in bankruptcy mortgage servicing
  • •Very attentive to detail and should have excellent writing skills.
  • •Experience performing researching and writing on a variety of rules, regulations and updates.
  • •Demonstrated ability to cope with a rapidly changing regulatory environment on a federal and state level.
  • •Strong working knowledge of mortgage servicing business operations and procedures.
  • •Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop working relations with the business units supported.
  • •Ability to deal with issues in a practical and efficient manner; excellent analytical skills; flexibility and willingness to work under pressure with tight deadlines.
  • •Self-sufficiency in approach to work and excellent prioritization and planning skills.
  • •Ability to manage complex assignments independently while also working effectively as part of a team.
